YardSales ("we," "our," or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
Email address - Required for account creation and login
Date of birth - Verified during sign-up to ensure users are 13 or older (not stored)
Google account info - If you sign in with Google (name and email only)
Location Data
Precise location - Used to show nearby yard sales and set listing locations
Approximate location - Used for general area searches
Location data is only accessed while the app is in use and only with your explicit permission.
Listing Content
Listing details you provide (title, description, address, dates, times, prices)
Photos you upload for your listings
Sale type and item category tags
Usage Data
Search queries and filter preferences
App interaction data (via Firebase Analytics)
Crash logs and performance diagnostics
Financial Information
Purchase history - Records of listing payments (processed by Google Play Billing)
We do NOT collect or store payment card information
2. How We Use Your Information
App Functionality - To display nearby yard sales, create and manage listings, and process payments
Analytics - To understand app usage and improve features
Communications - To send push notifications about favorites and important updates
Safety - To moderate content and enforce community guidelines
3. Data Storage and Security
Data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore database and Firebase Storage)
All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest
Authentication is handled through Firebase Authentication
Photos are stored in Firebase Storage with secure access controls
Theme and notification preferences are stored locally on your device only
4. Data Sharing
We do NOT sell your personal data. Data is shared only with:
Google Firebase - For app infrastructure (authentication, database, storage, analytics)
Google Play Billing - For payment processing
Google Maps/Places - For location and mapping features
All third-party services are governed by Google's privacy policies.
5. Your Rights
Access - Export your data anytime from Profile settings
Deletion - Delete your data or entire account from Profile settings
Location - Revoke location permission anytime in device settings
Notifications - Control push notifications in Profile settings or device settings
Camera/Photos - Revoke camera or photo access in device settings
6. Children's Privacy
YardSales requires users to be at least 13 years old. Age verification is performed during account creation. Users under 13 cannot create accounts. Users under 18 must have parental or guardian consent to publish listings.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be posted here with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
Terms of Service
By using YardSales, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Account Requirements
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account
You must provide accurate information during registration
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
Users under 18 must have parental or guardian consent to publish listings
2. Listing Guidelines
Listings must be for legitimate yard sales, garage sales, estate sales, moving sales, or kid businesses
Listing addresses must be accurate
Descriptions must not contain profanity, offensive content, or misleading information
Photos must be relevant to the listing and must not contain inappropriate content
You may not use listings for illegal items or activities
3. Payments
Creating a listing requires a one-time payment processed through Google Play Billing
Payments are non-refundable once a listing is published
All payment processing is handled by Google Play and subject to Google's terms
4. Content Moderation
Users may report listings that violate these terms
Listings receiving multiple reports may be automatically suspended for review
We reserve the right to remove any listing that violates these terms
Repeat violations may result in account suspension
5. Limitation of Liability
YardSales is a platform for discovering yard sales. We do not guarantee the accuracy of listing information.
We are not responsible for transactions that occur between users in person
Use the app and attend yard sales at your own risk
6. Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time from Profile settings.
Data Deletion
In-App Deletion (Recommended)
The fastest way to delete your data:
Open the YardSales app
Go to Profile tab
Tap "Delete My Data" to remove your data while keeping your account
Or tap "Delete My Account" to permanently delete everything
What Gets Deleted
Delete My Data: All your listings, favorites, reports, and uploaded photos are permanently removed. Your account remains active for future use.
Delete My Account: Everything above PLUS your Firebase account and all authentication data are permanently deleted.
